Mandatory Water Restrictions In Effect as of July 2, 2026

The use of all automatic sprinkler and irrigation systems is prohibited until further notice, except as specifically authorized by the Borough.

The Park Ridge Water Department is implementing mandatory water restrictions effective immediately and until further notice.

These restrictions are necessary due to ongoing drought conditions, increased seasonal water demand, and operational limitations within the municipal water system.

Conservation is required to preserve an adequate water supply for essential use, public health, and fire protection.

This restriction applies to all customers served by the Park Ridge Water System, including customers in the Borough of Park Ridge and the Borough of Woodcliff Lake.

The following limited outdoor water uses remain permitted:

  1. New sod or seed may be watered as authorized under the Borough’s published water restrictions.
  2. Watering after a commercial application of fertilizer, herbicide, or pesticide may be permitted as authorized under the Borough’s published water restrictions.
  3. The use of a hand-held hose for irrigation or washing vehicles is permitted on all days, provided the hose is equipped with a nozzle that shuts off automatically when released.
  4. Washing of impervious surfaces is permitted only if the municipal or county health department determines it is necessary to protect public health.
  5. Washing of buildings, decks, fences, lawn furniture, windows, and similar outdoor home maintenance may be performed by a homeowner using only a bucket and sponge, or a non-leaking hose equipped with an automatic shut-off nozzle.
  6. A homeowner may use their own power washer only to prepare a surface for painting, staining, or other coating or treatment.
  7. Homeowners may hire a commercial power washer for permitted home maintenance and cleaning, except for pavement or other impervious surfaces unless authorized as noted above.

Violations of these mandatory water restrictions may result in enforcement action and penalties as provided by law.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping protect the Park Ridge Water System.
