Camp Algonquin – Now Accepting Applications for Our Revised C.I.T. Program!
Camp Algonquin is excited to announce a newly revised Counselor in Training (C.I.T.) Program for Summer 2026!
This program is designed specifically for Woodcliff Lake campers ages 13 & 14 who are interested in developing leadership skills and gaining valuable hands-on experience at camp.
This year, CITs must apply and participate in an interview, as space is extremely limited. Only up to 8 CIT positions per week will be available.
About the CIT Program
The Counselor in Training (CIT) program provides meaningful leadership opportunities that prepare teens to become future staff members—whether at Camp Algonquin or in other settings. It is the perfect opportunity for young adults who want to make a positive impact on children while learning the foundational skills of being a strong leader.
CITs will learn important life skills including:
- Leadership development
- Teamwork and collaboration
- Communication skills
- Group management
- Responsibility and cooperation
Approximately two-thirds of each day is spent assisting with a specific camper group or activity area. CITs gain real experience helping counselors run programs, lead activities, and support younger campers.
CIT-Only Activities
The remaining portion of the day is dedicated to CIT-only activities, which may include:
- Time to relax and connect with peers
- Swimming in the pool
- Sports and recreation
- Participation in camp shows, special events, and guest activities
Throughout the summer, CITs meet regularly with senior staff members who track their progress, provide mentorship, and offer guidance to help them grow as leaders.
