RFQ Notice & Packet: Alternate Public Defender(s) for the Pascack Joint Municipal Court

NOTICE OF REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS FOR
ALTERNATE PUBLIC DEFENDER(S)

ON BEHALF OF THE PASCACK JOINT MUNICIPAL COURT
SERVING THE BOROUGHS OF MONTVALE, PARK RIDGE, AND WOODCLIFF LAKE

The Borough of Montvale is soliciting Qualification Statements for the position of Alternate Public Defender(s) serving the Pascack Joint Municipal Court.

The Qualification Statement should be returned in a sealed envelope which bears the name of the Respondent to the RFQ and should be clearly marked:

The RFQ procedures are designed to provide for the equivalent of a “fair and open” process to request qualifications to be included on a list of alternate public defender(s) who may be assigned cases in the event of a conflict or unavailability of the primary Public Defender for the Pascack Joint Municipal Court, based on qualifications, experience, reputation and merit, through accessible advertising and public notice.

A list of Alternate Public Defenders shall be established, and the individual(s) shall be appointed and shall serve for a term from the date of appointment until December 31, 2025, and until a new list has been established. An Alternate Public Defender shall receive compensation in the total amount of two hundred dollars ($200) per case assigned.  An Alternate Public Defender shall be compensated as an independent contractor and not as an employee.
